Ferguson-Brown and David Brown Tractors. Established in 1860 the David Brown Company had become a major gear wheel maker, in 1936 the founders grandson, also named David Brown, combined forces with Harry Ferguson to produce the Ferguson-Brown Type A tractor. Plans to manufacture the David Brown VAK 1 tractor were in hand when in 1939 Harry Ferguson entered into an agreement with Henry Ford. Production of the Type A Ferguson-Brown Tractor ceased and the new tractor was introduced at the 100th Royal Show held at Windsor in 1939. Over the following years David Brown continued to produce a range of very well engineered tractors until 1972 when the company was acquired by Tenneco owners of the Case Group. The David Brown name continued to be used until 1983 when the Case 94 series was launched. |
