The Garner four-wheel light tractor first appeared in 1949, the engine was the same JAP Model 5 six horsepower air-cooled petrol engine with centrifugal clutch, as fitted to the two-wheel Garner garden tractor. Transmission was via a three forward and one reverse gearbox, drive to the rear wheels was via a roller chain and differential. The drivers seat was mounted in front of the engine and gearbox with the driver having to reach behind the seat to change gear. Fitted with steel wheels the price of the tractor was £195.15s, optional pneumatic tyres added £5 to the price. Other optional extras were a belt pulley, power take-off, a purpose built plough and various tool bar attachments. The mid and rear mounted tool bars were raised or lowered by a hand lever. A rear draw-bar was fitted for trailed implements. Production of Garnet light tractors ceased in 1955. |
