The Massey Ferguson MF 35 Perkins powered three cylinder diesel tractor replaced the Standard built four cylinder diesel engine versions in 1959. Unlike the previous four cylinder diesel MF 35's the 39.9 h.p. three cylinder powered tractors were willing starters which made them much more popular with both owners and drivers. The three cylinder diesel is a cross flow engine, looking from the front the inlet manifold is on the right and the exhaust manifold on the right, both were on the right of the four cylinder units. A Massey Ferguson sales brochure produced for the launch of the three cylinder models stated it: "had a place on every farm and would give its owner extra energy to tackle fresh work and bring profit from every single acre". Petrol and petrol/vaporising oil versions of the MF 35 were available throughout their production life. |
