Despite opposition from Harry Ferguson to any fuel but straight petrol, the Ferguson TEF 20 Diesel Tractor was launched in 1951. In addition to the 26 h.p. four cylinder indirect injection engine the main difference to previous tractors in the TE range was the introduction of 12 volt electrics throughout the full range. Duel batteries were located above each rear axle and a heavy duty starter was fitted. A Ki-Gass starting system and a decompression lever were provided to facilitate starting in cold weather. |
