Renault R3042 Tractor 1950

The Renault R3042 Tractor was produced by RNUR (Régie Nationale des Usines Renault between 1949 and 1955.  Power was provided by a choice of petrol, paraffin or alcohol powered four cylinder side valve engines.  Buyers were required to specify the fuel to be used when making their order.  The Renault R3042 was rated as a 22-30 h.p. tractor.  Renault publicity of the time stated examples of it's uses, which included 'the ploughing of 5 acres of medium soil, 10 inches in depth with a double plough in one day'.  Transmission vas via a four forward and one reverse speed gearbox which gave a top speed of 13.5 m.p.h.  Standard features were, electric starting, independent foot brakes and a hand brake.  Options included, a side mounted belt pulley together with a 627 r.p.m power take-off shaft on the on the opposite side of the tractor which could be used to drive a side-mounted cutter bar mower.  An optional bolt-on hydraulic linkage unit which used the rear 552 r.p.m power take-off shaft for it's power source could also be specified.
