The David Brown VAK 1 Tractor was first seen when launched at the 100th Royal Show held at Windsor in 1939. Power was provided by a 35h.p. overhead valve four cylinder water cooled petrol/paraffin engine, four forward gears and a one reverse gearbox together with independent brakes were standard equipment. Optional extras were a power take off and hydraulic linkage which was dependent on implement wheels to control depth. The VAK 1A which had a modified manifold which improved engine warm up was produced from 1945 to 1947. |
