Case Model C 17/27 Tractor 1936

Case Model C Tractor 1936.  The C model tractors were produced from 1929 to 1940.  They were similar to the L Series but smaller.  Power was by a four cylinder engine of 17/27 h.p. with a 3.7/8 inch bore and 5.1/2 inch stroke. 3 forward gears and a reverse were provided.  Draw-bar horsepower at 1,100 r.p.m. was 17, and 27 under rated load.  Standard wheels were 24 x 4steel on the front and 48 x 8 steel on the rear.  The tractor was rated in the two-three plough range. It was the first Case tractor to feature the goose neck front wheel support and long (chicken roost) steering arm mechanism.  Steel wheel options included 6 x 48 inch rear extension rim, 5.3/4inch or 6 inch spade lugs, steel cone lugs, narrow rear wheels with either spade lugs and road bands.  Optional rubber tires became available in 1935 as well as the motor lift option.  The motor lift feature was a worm and gear unit that used engine power to raise or lower farm implements. this was activated by a trip button protruding through the floor of the operator platform, PTO became an option at this time as well.
